A suspected World War Two bomb found by local divers is thought to be a parachute mine, coastguards say.

The device was found 2,600ft (800m) offshore from a beach near Falmouth in Cornwall.

Falmouth coastguards were called at about 09:30 GMT by a local diver who discovered it whilst diving off the coast of Maenporth beach.

A Royal Navy bomb disposal team is expected to destroy it, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has said.

The Falmouth lifeboat was "keeping vessels clear of the area as a precautionary measure", the MCA added.

A spokesperson also said they expected the device to be destroyed on 30 November.
