Police have swooped on a disused building in Bodmin containing 4,000 suspected cannabis plants worth an estimated £2m, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police carried out a Section 8 warrant, allowing them to enter and search the 1,500sq-ft site shortly before midday on Wednesday.

Three men, aged 24, 36 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remain in custody.

Police remain on site while the plants are tested by Drugs Liaison Officers.

Det Insp Adam Stonehill described it as "an organised and sophisticated set up" located in a building with sufficient infrastructure "to produce a substantial amount of cannabis".

He thanked colleagues in the Proactive Disruption Team and local Neighbourhood team who executed the raid.

He went on to thank the public "for reporting this crucial information to us, which has ultimately led to this result today".

"This is a great example of how information reported to us by the public can help to remove both drugs, and the associated crime, from our community."

"What you may think of as an insignificant bit of information may be the piece of the puzzle which means we can take action, and so I would urge anyone who has any information about suspected illegal activity to report it to us."
