Cornwall rail disruption after train hits fallen branch

GWR said the train on the Liskeard to Looe service struck a fallen branch in the Causeland area
Rail services on a route in Cornwall were suspended after a train struck a fallen branch during an early morning journey.
Great Western Railway (GWR) said disruption followed the incident in the Causeland area at 05:57 GMT, on the line from Liskeard to Looe.
Services resumed with the 10:36 Liskeard to Looe and 11:06 Looe to Liskeard service.
GWR apologised and said passengers had been offered replacement taxis.
It said: "We're sorry to customers whose journeys were delayed between Liskeard and Looe this morning.
"The 05:57 service from Liskeard struck a fallen branch near Causeland, causing damage to the train.
"After an inspection, it was able to continue on to Looe before being taken out of service.
"Throughout the disruption, taxis were provided between Liskeard and Looe."
It added that any customer delayed by 15 minutes or more could claim a refund via the Delay Repay compensation scheme.
