Rainfall delaying Penryn sewer replacement work - South West Water

Final work to replace a sewer in a Cornish town has been delayed by recent heavy rainfall, South West Water (SWW) has said.
SWW said replacement work to the sewer on Commercial Road, Penryn, began in January after the existing one became prone to bursts.
It said a large section of the work had already been completed.
However, it said workers would revisit the site to complete the final work when "sewer levels come down".
'Long-lasting' improvements
The £850,000 project is part of an investment programme to improve the performance of sewers across the region and protect the environment, SWW said.
Ed Mitchell, project manager at SWW, said the utility was "confident" the improvements would be "long-lasting".
"We will need to come back once the sewer network levels have come down to complete the final work over the bridge as quickly as we can, and we will inform local residents and businesses when this will be happening," he said.
SWW said workers had used a combination of new pipework and relining - a technique which it said created a strong new pipe within the existing one.
The water company said the project, when finished, would help future-proof the network and reduce the risk of any future bursts.
