A centre that brings together diverse groups for creative activities has received a grant of more than £50,000.

Fish Factory Arts in Penryn has been allocated £50,549 of levelling-up funding by Cornwall Council.

The community interest company (CIC) said the funds would help them upgrade and expand their programmes.

It wants to make the building more accessible, upgrade its community cafe space and improve the pavement seating area.

A Fish Factory spokesperson said it would make the café a "more inviting space and enable the organisation to provide more outreach and programming opportunities involving food".

Cornwall councillor Louis Gardner, portfolio holder for economy said: "This inclusive and much-loved arts space will be able to inspire the community to get involved with creativity, the arts and activities within their own locality, making culture more accessible to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate."
