Shadow Olympics minister Tessa Jowell has been inspecting Coventry's Ricoh Arena.
The Labour MP visited the city earlier and was given a tour of the arena, hotel and conference area.
The venue will host 12 football matches during the Olympic Games, including the women's bronze medal match.
"The boldness with which the arena has been developed is a big statement of confidence in the economy of the West Midlands," Ms Jowell said.
