Richard Lee school petition delivered to Downing Street

Parents and pupils from Coventry have delivered a petition to Downing Street calling for their school to be repaired.

About 3,000 signatures were collected in a campaign for Richard Lee Primary School which has had problems with damp and leaking roofs.

The government has said Coventry City Council had been given £11m to spend on school buildings in the past year.

The city council has said it had to spend the money on more urgent cases.

Parents at the school, which was built in the 1950s, said it was beyond repair.

Head teacher Nicola Harwood said: "Every year we become more anxious about how the building is going to survive another winter."
