Reduced hours for Warwickshire waste recycling centres

Household recycling centres in Warwickshire are to reduce week day opening hours in 2012 because of budget cuts.
The county council said that by cutting the hours it would be able to keep them open seven days a week.
The site at Stockton will be open three days a week as it is currently.
The new hours will start on 9 January at all of the sites except Judkins in Nuneaton, which is run by a contractor and will change in April.
The council said it was working with community groups to operate the sites at Stockton and Wellesbourne.
The council said it had to find budget savings of more than £900,000 by 2012 from the nine recycling sites, and the disposal of green waste and recycling that came from them.
Councillor Alan Cockburn, portfolio holder for sustainable communities, said: "We've tried to meet the savings required and minimise the impact upon the public by keeping all nine sites open, keeping weekend opening the same as before, opening later one evening a week, working with the third sector and improving the on-site re-use shops.
"In addition, to meet our savings we also need all residents to sort their waste carefully before visiting the sites to maximise the amount of waste we recycle and reduce the expensive landfill bill we pay for the general rubbish."
