The M6 southbound has reopened after a refuse lorry overturned on a traffic island above the carriageway near Coventry, causing it to close.

The accident happened at about 12:45 GMT when the truck was travelling around an island.

Part of the truck's load, including diesel, slid down the embankment and on to the motorway.

The carriageway was closed between junctions three and two until about 18:30 GMT.
