Rain fails to dampen Jubilee party spirit

Up to 300 people went to "Hampton's got Talent"

Parties and events marking the Diamond Jubilee took place across Coventry and Warwickshire, although some venues were changed because of the weather.

In Alcester, a two-day event got under way with the town's High Bailiff, Steve Payne, saying people would have fun whatever the weather.

A Big Lunch, a parade and live music were among events on Sunday.

Parties were also held in Ash Green church hall, Aldermans Green and Tile Hill.

In Kenilworth, about 100 people turned out to a street party in Sunningdale Avenue, ending with a commemorative tree planting.

Up to 300 villagers attended a marquee in Hampton-in-Arden for the Big Lunch. Screens were put up for people to watch the flotilla of 1,000 boats along the Thames in London, while the more enthusiastic party-goers took part in a "Hampton's Got Talent" show.

The village is in the middle of hosting three days of celebrations for the Jubilee, finishing on Monday with a sports festival.
