A decision on plans for a business park near Coventry Airport has been deferred by a planning committee.

Warwick council leader Michael Doody said "more information" is needed and he believes the number of jobs could be "closer to 10,000."

It is claimed the Coventry Gateway development could create 14,000 jobs.

The £250m scheme has been approved by Coventry City Council and would include offices, industrial units and a hotel.

The city council approved the scheme despite more than 500 objections.

Mr Doody said: "This is a very important decision they've got to make and I wouldn't want the decision made without councillors knowing all the facts.

"They need more information about the level of jobs….I would guess that the amount of jobs would not be 14,000, but very likely closer to 10,000."

He expects that answers to the questions the council has would be answered towards the end of January.
