Police holding two men on suspicion of the abduction and murder of Nicola Payne 22 years ago have been given a further 36 hours to quiz them.

Ms Payne was last seen in the Henley Green area of Coventry on 14 December 1991, when she was 18 years old.

Last week, West Midlands Police carried out new forensic tests on items recovered during the investigation.

The men were arrested on Tuesday and police have now been given a second extension to hold them in custody.

Officers now have until the early hours of Friday to charge or release the pair.

A 51-year-old woman, who was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, has been granted conditional police bail and released while enquiries are ongoing, police said.
