More than 1,000 fish have been found dead in a polluted Warwickshire river.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said hydrogen peroxide had been pumped into the river to ensure the oxygen returned to a level that would not harm the fish.

Further evidence of pollution has also been found in the rivers Swift and Avon. Tests are taking place.

"Our officers are currently sampling and analysing these while continuing to work with Severn Trent to contain and rectify the situation," an Environment Agency spokesman said.
