The Parkinson's UK branch in Stratford-upon-Avon has run for nearly 40 years and warned it could fold without new volunteers

A support group for people with Parkinson's disease is set to continue after new volunteers came forward.

The Parkinson's UK branch in Stratford-upon-Avon had warned it could close after 39 years.

Several volunteers had stepped down from their roles and the charity had said that without replacements, the group would fold.

But since an appeal, new volunteers have pledged to help out.

"It's great," said branch chair Carole Longden, who was among those leaving. "Today, I've already had four people contact me."

She told BBC CWR the group was still looking for further help.

"We need somebody to manage [support] activities, and the more people we have, the more we can do."
