A lorry has been left wedged under a railway bridge after crashing in Warwick.

Birmingham Road remains shut to traffic following the crash, which also disrupted train services in the area.

Emergency crews were called at about 12:30 GMT, Warwickshire Police said, confirming the road would remain shut for a "considerable amount of time".

Images shared on social media showed the lorry leaning on two wheels, stuck between the bridge and a wall.

Police have urged people to avoid the area.

A spokesperson said the force had handed the incident to council highways officers at about 17:00.

Delays were reported on roads around the area, but National Rail confirmed that disruption to train services had been dealt with just before 16:00.
