A makeshift library set up outside a Coventry home is proving popular with local schoolchildren, its creator has said.

Matteo Deidda made it in his Cheylesmore street from reclaimed materials and regularly fills it with books.

"We installed it a couple of months ago," he explained.

"It's been super popular with children from Manor Park School, and lots of the neighbours as well."

The structure was painted by his daughter and the stock of books is regularly topped up by members of a local Facebook group, he explained.

Describing himself as a "bit of a sustainability geek", Mr Deidda said allowing books to be reused was just one small way of helping to look after the planet.
