Dozens of people attended a service to remember those who died in the famine

Dozens have gathered to remember the 90th anniversary of a Ukrainian famine which killed millions of people.

The Holodomor, which translates from Ukranian as "death by hunger", refers to a famine that took place in Ukraine between 1932 and 1933 following agricultural policies introduced under Joseph Stalin's Soviet regime.

The event on Saturday was held in the Peace Garden in Coventry's Canal Basin.

It featured a requiem and blessing of the memorial stone.

As well as members of the city's Ukranian community, among those who attended was the Deputy Lieutenant for the West Midlands, George Marsh.
