A number of warnings were in place including for the rivers Swift and Alne

People living near rivers in parts of Warwickshire have been warned to prepare for flooding.

The Environment Agency (EA) issued multiple warnings, external across England due to rising river levels following heavy rainfall.

These included one for the River Swift at Rugby, where the EA said flooding of property was expected after water levels rose at the Churchover gauge.

It expected river levels in the area to remain high until Monday evening.

The agency also warned homes could be flooded on two roads near the River Alne in the villages of Aston Cantlow and Great Alne.

River levels were expected to continue to rise on Monday, it added, with further rain forecast.

Flood warnings were also issued for Gog Brook in Warwick and part of the River Blythe at Earlswood.

Such warnings mean the EA considers flooding of homes and businesses likely and action should be taken.
