The date for the opening of a town's new leisure centre has been confirmed.

Everyone Active (EA), which will operate Castle Farm Recreation Centre in Kenilworth on behalf of Warwick District Council, said it will open its doors on 21 December.

The centre has taken 20 months to complete and is larger than the old building which was demolished.

EA said it will house an 80-station gym and six-court sports hall and a dedicated group cycling studio.

The centre will also be the headquarters for Kenilworth Scouts and Guides.

A council representative said opening the centre was part one of a two-stage plan for leisure facilities in the town.

They said there were also plans for a new swimming pool at Abbey Fields, but costs have risen as it will be built on top of the remains of medieval buildings.
