Warwickshire woman charged with terrorism offences

A woman who is alleged to have planned to travel to Afghanistan to join the Islamic State (IS) group has been charged with terror offences, police said.

The 34-year-old from Stratford-upon-Avon faces two counts of engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorism under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

She appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The woman was then remanded in custody.

West Midlands Police said the charges against her related to allegations of planning to travel to join IS in Afghanistan, as well as sharing extremist material between 1 September 2022 and 10 January 2024.
