Steps to boost Cumbria forest bat numbers
- Published
Artificial roosts have been set up to boost the bat population in a Cumbrian forest.
The Forestry Commission said there was a lack of suitable sites in Grizedale Forest, in the Lake District.
A variety of different box designs have been used to encourage different species.
They include two above a woodfuel burner, where it is hoped the warmth will attract bats.
Lighting around the visitor centre has been modified so it will not disturb the bats.
