Carlisle burglar trapped by snow prints sentenced

A Carlisle burglar who was caught by police when he left a trail of footprints in the snow has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Christopher Henry, 31, was traced to his home in Briar Bank after breaking into a house in Belah half a mile away.

Carlisle Crown Court heard how he stole an iPod during the raid on 2 December.

He admitted burglary and was given a 34-week prison term suspended for two years and ordered to complete 150 hours community work.

The hearing was told that all police had to do was follow the footprints back to Henry's home.

They found his snow-soaked boots in his bedroom and the stolen iPod under his bed.
