Firefighters spent four hours bringing a blaze at a derelict hotel in the centre of Carlisle under control.

They were called to the fire at 20:28 BST, which was confined to the top floors of the Central Plaza hotel, on Victoria Viaduct, in the city.

Crews from Brampton, Penrith, Aspatria and Dumfries were at the scene, and left at about 01:20 BST.

No-one was injured and the building is believed to have been empty at the time.
