Cumbria University appeals for landlords

The University of Cumbria is appealing for private landlords to come forward in advance of what is expected to be an extremely busy clearing period.

Although the university operates a number of halls of residence in Carlisle, these options are already full with first year intake.

Its now seeking alternative options in Carlisle and Penrith for new students.

Anyone with rooms or houses available is asked to contact the university as soon as possible.

Lucy Roberts, commercial services manager at the Carlisle campus, said: "Last year we had an exceptionally busy clearing period where we recruited lot successfully and we're hoping to do the same again this year.

"We do have and work with quite a lot of private landlords, but second and third year students have already taken a lot of that accommodation as they move forward with their studies, so we are increasingly needing more."
