Cumbria Council asks for ideas on how to cut budget

Cumbria Council is to hold feedback events with the community to get people's views on saving £2.8m from the 2012/13 budget.
The first of six events will take place on Tuesday at Egremont Market Hall.
The events are being held around the county to look at reductions in public expenditure and what the council's priorities should be.
The sessions will take place until 31 January and the budget must be agreed by February.
A member of the county council's corporate management team will talk people through the council's draft budget and give them the opportunity to hear about the council's proposals before giving comments and feedback.
Last year about 6,000 people took part in the budget consultation.
The proposal to introduce on-street parking charges was withdrawn and the proposal to make reductions to the countryside access budget was scaled back as a result of consultation feedback.
