Barrow MP John Woodcock assault: Daniel Duke pleads guilty
- Published
A man has admitted hitting shadow transport minister John Woodcock during a scuffle on a train.
The Barrow and Furness MP was travelling home to his constituency in February when he was assaulted by Daniel Duke, Furness magistrates heard.
Duke, 29, of Beech Street, Barrow, pleaded guilty to assault.
However, both Duke and Joshua Round, 20, also of Barrow, denied a charge of racially aggravated harassment. The case was adjourned until 24 May.
Duke and Mr Round are also charged with using threatening language, to which no pleas were entered.
Mr Woodcock alleges he overheard Duke and Mr Round, of Wasdale Grove, Barrow, using racist language and decided to intervene.
