Carlisle road rage attacker in jail warning
- Published
A man who deliberately drove his car at a motorcyclist twice after a minor road accident in Carlisle has been warned he faces a long jail term.
Ian David Bretherton pleaded guilty to attempted grievous bodily harm with intent following the incident in May.
Carlisle Crown Court heard that his victim Terence Chandler had to jump over a garden wall for safety.
Bretherton, 44 and of Wordsworth Street, Penrith, is due to be sentenced on 13 December.
He was bailed for background reports.
The judge warned him it was so serious that a "significant" sentence was inevitable, even though he had never been in trouble with the law before.
