Cockermouth Mountain Rescue team recovers river bed mattress

A mountain rescue team helped remove a mattress dumped in an inaccessible river bed in Cumbria.
The mattress had been dropped into the River Cocker from a bridge in Cockermouth, where the banks are too steep for council workers to scale.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team used it as a training exercise.
Councillor Michael Heaslip, executive member for locality services, said it would have cost hundreds of pounds to hire a specialist team.
"Thanks to the generosity of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team, there has been a saving for the taxpayer," he said.
