Man rescued after falling 50ft at Hodge Close Quarry

A man had to be rescued after falling 50ft (15m) down a quarry in Cumbria.

The man, believed to be in his 50s and camping in the area, fell down Hodge Close Quarry, near Coniston, in the early hours of Sunday morning

Members of Coniston Mountain Rescue Team, firefighters and paramedics were involved in the rescue.

The man was treated for severe head injuries before being taken to Furness General Hospital.
