M6 closure over River Eamont for bridge maintenance
- Published
A motorway bridge in Cumbria will be partially closed for four nights from Monday to allow for repairs.
Lanes of the southbound M6 near Penrith will be closed where the road crosses the River Eamont.
The work, taking place from 20:00 GMT until 06:00, involves replacing joints which allow the bridge to expand and contract in extreme weather.
Mark Mosley from the Highways Agency said the work had been scheduled to minimise disruption.
There will be no access to the southbound M6 from junction 40 for the duration of the project.
