Cumbria's fibre broadband roll-out 'ahead of schedule'

The roll-out of high-speed fibre broadband is running ahead of schedule in some parts of Cumbria, according to the county council.
The first homes and businesses in Millom and Hackthorpe are set to be connected by the end of March - nine months earlier than planned.
At the same time, people in Cockermouth will be able to access fibre broadband.
Around 15,000 properties could benefit by the summer, the council said.
The authority is working with BT in an effort to get 93% of Cumbrian properties connected by the end of 2015.
A number of other areas scheduled to 'go live' in 2015 as part of the Connecting Cumbria project will now be upgraded before the end of 2014.
These include Silloth, Wigton, Kirkby Stephen and Greystoke.
