Tyre maker Pirelli is to face a crown court hearing over the death of an employee in an industrial oven at its plant in Cumbria.

The body of George Falder, 48, from Carlisle, was found in September 2012 in a machine used to heat tyres to temperatures of up to 150C.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has now brought criminal proceedings against the tyre manufacturing company.

Representatives of the firm will appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 6 October.
