Carlisle stab death: Two men charged with murder

Police were called to Brantwood Avenue just before 11:00 BST on Sunday

Two men have been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death.

John Cingelis, 37, died at a house on Brantwood Avenue in Carlisle on Sunday. A second man was taken to hospital with stab wounds but later discharged.

Blair Dixon, 24, of Welsh Road, and Alfonso Bitton, 25, of Eldon Drive, both in Carlisle, have been charged with murder and wounding.

They appeared before city magistrates earlier and were remanded to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on Thursday.

Det Ch Insp Jenny Beattie said: "I would like to thank those members of the public who have come forward so far.

"We would continue to appeal for anyone who has any information or any footage that may help the investigation to make contact."
