A bomb squad was called to reports of an unexploded device in Cumbria.

Road closures were in place on Salthouse Road and Lumley Street in Barrow-in-Furness from about 09:00 GMT on Friday.

Cumbria Police said a "potential ordnance" had been found in the Marina Village development, which is under construction.

A cordon was put in place before the force confirmed at 15:30 GMT the object was not an explosive.

People who had been asked to evacuate their homes as a precaution were allowed to return.

The North West Ambulance Service, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and Barrow Borough Council had been in attendance "as a precaution".
