Arrest over 'racist abuse' during Barrow AFC football game

A man has been arrested over an allegation of racist abuse against a football club's staff member during a match in Cumbria.
The man, 70, was arrested at the So Legal Stadium in Barrow during Tuesday's game between Barrow AFC and Morecambe FC, Cumbria Police said.
He was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated hate crime, the force added.
Barrow AFC said it would conduct a "thorough investigation".
The club said it would "take the strongest action possible" against anyone found guilty of racism, including the possibility of a lifetime ban.
In a statement, Barrow AFC said, external: "The club would like to make it absolutely clear that we abhor discrimination in all its forms.
"We would appeal to any fans who may have witnessed any discriminatory abuse to please come forward."
The club praised the response of its stewards and Cumbria Police for their "swift actions".
The arrested man remained in custody, according to Cumbria Police.
