Cumbrian F1 Academy driver Jess Edgar shows 'girls are good enough'

Cumbrian racing driver Jess Edgar has praised the success of the inaugural F1 Academy series in boosting prospects for women in motorsport.

The 18-year-old is the first British, and youngest-so-far, winner in the series, having led home the field in the final race of the season at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas.

F1 Academy is a new, women-only junior series of racing set up by Formula 1 to bring more women into the sport.

“It shows that girls are good enough and girls have a place in motorsport," said Jess. "There’s a place for us in motorsport and F1 Academy have worked really hard to prove that.”
