A body has been found in a search for a missing fell runner in Cumbria.

Edward Catmur, from London, had intended to run from Dufton, near Appleby, to Cross Fell and Hartside Cross but was reported missing after not being heard from after 10:00 GMT on Sunday, Cumbria Police said.

A body was found on Monday in the Cross Fell area in the Pennines following a search involving Penrith Mountain Rescue Team.

Mr Catmur's family have been informed.

The rescue team said volunteers searched along Mr Catmur's planned route into the early hours of Monday.

Efforts resumed at first light with search dogs and drones involved and a police helicopter found the body at about midday.
