Boy, four, found dead in tumble dryer in Ashbourne home

The body of a four-year-old boy has been found in a tumble dryer in his home.

The child was reported missing from his home in Northcliffe Road in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, at about 1035 BST.

Police began a search assisted by a helicopter but the boy was found dead by his mother at about 1120 BST.

Officers said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, but were not yet releasing the boy's name.

His mother has received medical treatment and is being cared for by specially trained officers.

A Home Office pathologist has arrived and will conduct a post mortem examination later to determine the cause of death.

A cordon has been set up around the semi-detached house while the scene is examined.
