Two men have been found dead in the same block of flats in Derby.
Police said 66-year-old John Matthews was found dead on 25 July at flats in Waterford Drive, Chaddesden.
A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in Whitehaven, Cumbria, at about 0600 BST.
The second man, who was in his 50s, was then found in another apartment. Police are treating this death as suspicious but have not confirmed the two are connected.
Officers are conducting forensic examinations at the scene and carrying out house-to-house inquiries.
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cotterill, of Derbyshire Police, said: "We are still at the early stages of this investigation and we still have many facts and details to establish.
"I would ask anyone in or around the Waterford Drive area who heard or saw anything strange or suspicious in the last week to contact the police.
"I would like to thank local people for their co-operation and patience so far."
