Work to stabilise derelict Derby Hippodrome starts

Work aimed at stabilising Derby's derelict Hippodrome theatre is to start.
The Grade II listed building, which has been unused for years, was badly damaged during repair work in 2008.
The city council said roof and masonry repairs will cost about £43,000 and will mean nearby Macklin Street will be reopened to traffic.
Officials confirmed they would seek to pass the costs on to the building's owner.
In April developer Christopher Anthony, of Bishops Stortford, was given a conditional discharge after admitting ordering work on the Hippodrome without permission.
The new stabilisation work is expected to take five weeks.
