Murder arrest after body found in Somercotes woodland

Police have launched a murder inquiry after a body was found in woodland near an industrial estate in Derbyshire.

The discovery was made close to the estate on Wimsey Way, Somercotes - near Alfreton - at about 1630 GMT on Sunday.

Police said enquiries were at an early stage and the victim's identity or cause of death could not be confirmed.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been taken to a local police station for questioning.

The area where the body was found has been cordoned off for forensic examination.
