The funeral of a Derbyshire woman who was killed in a landslide on a Dorset beach has taken place.

Charlotte Blackman, 22, from Heanor, died on 24 July on Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock.

Hundreds of people attended her funeral at Bramcote Crematorium Chapel, followed by a family-only burial.

Her boyfriend and father were pulled free. Experts said the landslide was caused by heavy rain and coastal erosion exacerbating cliff fractures.

Ms Blackman died after some 400 tonnes of rock fell onto the beach.

In a statement, Vickie Butler, the sister of Ms Blackman's boyfriend Matt Carnell, described her as "an inspirational and beautiful young lady".

She said: "Her love and passion for life touched so many. Her motto, 'life is too short to be anything but happy' truly encapsulates her as a person."

The Charlotte Blackman Memorial Fund has been set up in her memory by her family who said they hoped to raise awareness and funds for charities supporting autistic and vulnerable children.

They asked that those attending her funeral wear bright clothing and a flower in their hair, or something "butterfly-related".
