Derby City Council's Osmaston housing plans move closer

Plans for an area of Derby described by the city council as chronically poor have moved a step closer.
The authority and Rolls-Royce, which used to occupy much of the area, have come up with a shortlist of companies to build new housing in Osmaston.
The plans involve knocking down some poor housing and building new homes on brownfield land.
Companies Morgan Sindall and Keepmoat are bidding to redevelop the area. One of them could be chosen in November.
In 2009, residents were consulted on a £500m regeneration plan for the inner-city area.
Ideas for the area included social and private housing as well as shops, services and green spaces.
