Chesterfield fan denies Bradford City fire disaster posts

A man has denied posting offensive remarks online relating to the Bradford City fire disaster.

Chesterfield fan Mark Randall, 45, from Pleasley, near Mansfield, appeared at Chesterfield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

He was charged with racially or religiously aggravated disorderly behaviour under section 5 of the Public Order Act.

An inquiry began after comments were posted on Facebook in December.

Mr Randall was charged after an investigation into remarks posted to a League One fans' page following Chesterfield's 1-0 home defeat to Bradford City on 13 December.

He was given conditional bail after pleading not guilty to the charges and is due to appear at Chesterfield Magistrates' Court on 29 May.

A total of 56 people died when a fire broke out at Bradford's Valley Parade home ground during a match against Lincoln City in May 1985.
