Derbyshire's roads policing unit said the crash occurred after a motorist tried to catch a spider while driving

A motorist crashed as they attempted to catch a spider while driving, police have said.

Their car ploughed into another, which was in a lay-by on the A50 westbound, Derbyshire Police said.

Drivers in both vehicles sustained minor injuries, said the force, which released a photo of the damaged cars.

No arrests were made but the driver of a silver Citroen was reported for "driving without due care and attention".

The road was shut "for some time" after the crash at 16:15 BST on Sunday.
