A38 reopens after serious crash and vehicle fire near Alfreton

A dual carriageway near the M1 has reopened following a serious crash and vehicle fire.

Derbyshire Police first reported the A38 collision on social media, external just before 04:00 BST.

The road was closed in both directions between junction 28 of the M1 and the B600 near Alfreton.

It has since fully reopened despite police originally saying both sides were expected to be closed "at least" until the early evening.

No details have yet been released about any casualties.
