Derby: Man dies at house with 'out of control' dog

A man in his 50s has died during an incident in which an "out of control" dog was shot dead by police.

Derbyshire Police said officers were called to reports a man had been seriously injured at a property in Cameron Road, Derby, just after 05:50 BST on Saturday.

The cause of the man's fatal injuries are yet to be confirmed by police.

A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Police said he remained in custody and a cordon was still in place around the property.

The force said the dog was destroyed because it put officers and the public at risk.

It added the family of the man who died had been informed and there would be an increased police presence in the area while the investigation continued.
