Derby: Attempted murder arrests after man stabbed

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Derby.

Derbyshire Police said the man was attacked in Laverstoke Court, off Peet Street, at about 10:50 BST on Tuesday.

He has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains there.

The force said the arrested men, both in their 20s, remained in custody, adding those involved are understood to be known to one another.

There is no wider risk to the local community, police added.

A "significant police presence" will remain in the Laverstoke Court area as inquiries continue.

The building, which used to be a university halls of residence, has been used as an asylum seeker centre.

It is not known whether anyone involved in the incident is a resident.
