Swadlincote: Police given more power to deal with park nuisances

Police and council officers have been given enhanced powers to tackle troublemakers at a Derbyshire park.
A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) has been introduced at Swadlincote's Eureka Park in response to reports of anti-social behaviour.
It came into force on Saturday after a public consultation found 97% of respondents were in favour.
The order bans the drinking of alcohol and using skateboards, bicycles and scooters in an intimidating manner.
In addition, police and South Derbyshire District Council officers can move on groups or individuals if they suspect they are causing or likely to cause anti-social behaviour.
Anyone breaching the order, which is in place for the next three years, can be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
Council leader Robert Pearson said: "It is designed to help keep the park safer for regular users and those visiting for the first time."
