A man has been charged after a crash that killed a mother and son in Derbyshire.

Police said the pair were in a Hyundai that was involved in the crash with a black BMW on the A632 Chesterfield Road at Span Carr on Saturday.

The 59-year-old woman died at the scene, while her 22-year-old son died in hospital after being taken there by air ambulance.

Joshua Hill, 27, is accused of causing death by dangerous driving.

Mr Hill, of Wheata Road, Sheffield, is also charged with causing death by driving while unlicensed/uninsured, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.

He will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court later.

Derbyshire Police said a 40-year-old man - also arrested in connection with the crash - had been released on bail while investigations continued.
